Real food, real nourishment for little people
The Simple Lunchbox is my first baby - a website and program bringing practical, food-first nutrition to families and early learning environments. From recipes and lunchbox inspiration to food education and resources for educators and families, it’s all about making feeding little people feel a little more achievable.
And if you’re here at BJN because you’re trying to look after you, chances are there are still lunches to pack and family meals to think about. Head over to The Simple Lunchbox for practical ideas to take some of the thinking out of feeding your family.
Filling your own cup can look like making the rest of life a little easier, too.

I offer a series of short, play-based food and nutrition sessions that fit easily into your existing routine, helping children build confidence and familiarity with food through curiosity, hands-on experiences, and gentle exposure.
Rather than focusing on “what they should eat”, the sessions create a safe, pressure-free space for children to explore food, supporting more positive mealtime experiences, both within the centre and at home.
-
These sessions are intended to be delivered ahead of the children’s sessions and are designed to be collaborative and hands-on.
Educators are introduced to the same concepts, activities and language the children will experience, giving them the opportunity to engage with the content in a practical, play-based way first.
The aim is a shared language between educators and practitioner, so learning is not only delivered, but carried, extended and embedded in everyday practice.
-
Food experiences don’t stop at the menu, they are part of children’s everyday learning, connection, and sense of belonging.
This partnership supports early learning centres to feel confident in how food is planned, shared, and experienced across the service, with menus that are balanced, practical, and developmentally appropriate.
-
Caring for children requires significant physical, emotional, and mental energy. These workshops are designed to support educators’ own health and wellbeing in a way that feels realistic, practical, and sustainable within the demands of their day.
The focus is on helping educators feel more resourced, supported, and steady in themselves, which naturally flows into calmer environments and stronger connections with children.
-
Family Information Workshops provide a calm, supportive space for families to explore practical, evidence-informed strategies they can confidently use at home, while also offering insight into the centre’s food and learning programs and what children are experiencing day to day.
The focus is on reducing pressure, building positive food relationships, and helping families feel informed, connected, and empowered, not judged.
